JAMB has mandated CBT centre owners to apprehend any parent caught near their facilities during the 2024.

The organization confirmed that all preparations have been finalized for the administration of the 2024 UTME, scheduled to take place in more than 700 CBT facilities nationwide.

A directive was issued during the final briefing of the Computer-Based Test Centre owners, which took place virtually on Wednesday, 17th April 2024. Our correspondent in Abuja obtained a transcript of this briefing on Thursday.

The board emphasized that the directive was essential in response to the intrusive behavior exhibited by certain parents in the Board’s prior exercises.

Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, the Registrar, stated that any parent who fails to comply with this directive will not only face arrest but also have their child barred from taking the exam.

It is essential to implement this measure because it has been revealed that a number of parents who intrude are involved in facilitating examination misconduct, while others have previously disrupted the Board’s examinations through their actions. Additionally, there are individuals who pretend to be parents in order to gain access to examination centers and commit various forms of misconduct.

As a result, the Registrar announced that the Board has mandated security officers to cooperate with the centers to apprehend any interfering parent who approaches the facilities.

According to the current national education policy, the head of the board observed that candidates must be at least 17 years old to sit for the examination. It is clear, therefore, that these parents did not ensure that their children completed the required classes as outlined in the official document. Consequently, they have decided to accompany their children to the examination venue in order to influence the examination officials.

We would like to take this opportunity to extend our best wishes to all the candidates taking the exam, hoping for success in their future endeavors.
